Everton School Moves Closer

The groundbreaking work conducted by Everton in the community [EITC] has been acknowledged by the government after their application to establish a pioneering free school became one of the few from over 270 applications to be selected to progress to the next stage.

As reported here in June of this year, EITC’s vision centres on the establishment of a school which would be open to all members of the local community who would benefit from an education based on a non-traditional scholastic environment.

Everton’s application has been selected above those of other premiership clubs, Manchester City and Tottenham, and their business case will now face a rigorous examination before a final decision is made before January 2012.

Fan groups from both Everton and Liverpool have been working diligently with the local council and the private sector to develop a prospectus for the establishment of a football quarter which would incorporate the city’s great clubs and contain educational, recreational, leisure and community facilities all sharing a sustainable transport infrastructure and paid for through public private finance initiatives.
