Downing Street Respond

Downing Street have responded to a petition that was created on the number 10 website by a Kirkby resident, whilst the announcement was made that the project had been called in months ago, the petition on the website has only recently finished. This is the response those who signed the petition will have received:

"Having considered all of the available information, The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government decided that it was the right decision to call in the planning application for the Everton/Tesco development in Knowsley for her own determination on the 7th August 2008.

"The Planning Inspectorate was asked to arrange a public inquiry which commenced on the 18 November 2008 at the Kirkby Suite, Norwich Way, Cherryfield Drive, Kirkby, L32 8XY. Any further correspondence on the case should be addressed to the Planning Inspectorate, PINS SAC(B), Room 3/17, Temple Quay House,2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN.

"As you will appreciate, it would be inappropriate for the Government to offer any further comment at this stage as this case is still ongoing."
