"not-so-secretive backer of Everton" could pull out?

The London Evening Standard have reported that billionaire Sir Philip Green is ready to sever ties with Everton FC to focus on events at Tottenham Hotspur. The London Evening Standard state that Sir Philip Green is "a not-so-secretive backer of Everton".

There were strong rumours that he gave business advice to the club and was prepared to act as a guarantor for a large loan to help Everton build the new stadium in Kirkby as he is a close friend of Bill Kenwright.

Sir Philip Green is one of the owners of the Arcadia Group, it is believed that he may have wanted to open clothing stores on the retail park in Kirkby near the stadium as his companies such as Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Outfit, Topshop/Topman and Wallis meet the 'premier fashion outlets' requirement desired and are already found on retail parks across the country.

He was responsibile for introducing now Everton FC director Robert Earle to chairman Bill Kenwright. It is not known at this time how this could affect Everton FC's plans to relocate to Kirkby.
